Early October Fishing

Captain Chris Kimrey - Thursday, October 12, 2017

If you live anywhere in eastern North Carolina, you know that although we're into our second week in October, the weather sure doesn't feel like it. The warm temperatures and high humidity have it feeling more like August, but we can't complain. October's fishing has started out good and we're looking forward to some cooler temperatures later in the month and into November.

So, what have we been catching?

We've had some fun trips drum fishing in the Neuse River. Our fishermen have been catching red and black drum of all sizes. We've also had some nearshore king mackerels show up. Once we get a good northeast wind that will cool the water off, we should be catching many more kings just off of Atlantic Beach.

Speckled trout can also usually be found this time of year along the shore. November is typically the best month to catch trout off the Crystal Coast inshore. While out fishing for speckled trout, we've also found some nice flounder that make for a yummy dinner. There's nothing better than cooking what you catch and frying fresh flounder to crispy perfection.

Take advantage of one of the most beautiful seasons of the year here on the Crystal Coast. We'd love to have you and put you on a fun charter full of fish! Call Capt. Chris today to inquire about charter opening and to book your fishing trip today!
