Finally, we've had some awesome weather here on the Crystal Coast this past week and the forecast looks pretty great for Labor Day weekend. Old Drum & Popping Corks

It's old drum season! A lot of our charters lately have been in search of big ole drum in the Neuse River! This time of year, drum of all sizes can be caught depending on the time of day you're out fishing. Early morning and late evening fishing in the Neuse River and near the town of Oriental typically lead us to find the really large old drum. We've had some great luck in the mornings using popping corks! Fishing with popping corks means never a dull moment. Popping corks draw attention to the bait with a clicking sound that is similar to that of shrimp, crabs or baitfish. When the cork is jerked by the rod, the bait "jumps" from the bottom and reflects the movement of fleeing bait. This is a great method to use in the Neuse River where the waters can get a bit rough and cloudy. Read More

North Carolina Red Snapper Season

An interim season for red snapper in North Carolina has been approved. This was requested by the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council and the South Atlantic region has been opened for harvesting red snapper for two consecutive weekends, November 3rd thru 5th and November 10th thru 12th. Recreational fishermen may harvest red snapper in federal waters starting today and throughout this weekend as well as next weekend. The bag limit is 1 fish per person per day, with no limit on size. Drum Fishing In The Neuse

It's officially fall! We're excited for fall fishing and all of the fun catches that are to come this season. This past week has been full of fun trips to the Neuse River catching drum. From slots to old drum, we've been catching them all! Typically, the large, old drum bite is on when the sun goes down. Luckily, this year we've been able to find the old drum in the afternoon and into dusk. Not only is old drum fishing a ton of fun - if you've ever reeled in one of the big ones, you know! - but you also get to take in a beautiful sunset from one of the best spots in eastern North Carolina.
